I’m a sucker for brick. This building and the historical Fernwood Square appealed to both my romantic and sentimental side. I grew up on the East Coast of Canada immersed in Canadian architecture. Some of the oldest and most beautiful buildings in our country surrounded me and instilled an unswaying love and appreciation for Canadian architecture,  From Georgian, Romanesque and Victorian to Gothic and Classical Revival. I love it all.

Fernwood offers that same nostalgic feeling. The stunning Belfry theatre, which was once a methodist church, is the epicentre of the neighbourhood.  Its towering spire is the north star leading Fernwoodians back to the square…the neighbourhoods’ heartbeat. The buildings in the square are connected with bright white lights, giving a warm glow on dark nights.  The gorgeous brick buildings are branded with faded business names from the turn of the century still legible across the top of the buildings. This walkable and welcoming community offers eatery’s, locally roasted coffee, art, beauty, fashion, decor, wine, music, theatre and community gardens.
